Best Dogs

I recently came upon an article that listed the ten best dogs in the USA. This article was based on the top dog breeds ranked from most popular to least popular. As a lot of dog owners find out the hard way, there are many other considerations to keep in mind besides popularity when buying a puppy or dog.  One of my favorite websites, AnimalPlanet.com, has an entire section devoted to pets called Pets 101. In this section you will find a tool called Dog Breed Selector. This is an excellent tool for anybody looking to buy or adopt a new dog. It takes you through 10 questions and that are designed to help you choose the best dog breed for you. Please check it out.

Based on popularity, the best dogs in the USA with 1 being most popular is as follows:

1. Bulldog                                      
2. Chihuahua
3. Golden Retriever                  
4. Pug                                                            
5. Rottweiler
6. Yorkshire Terrier
7. Beagle
8. German Shepherd
9. Shih Tzu
10. Dachshund

Just for curiosity, I did a search on the top 10 problem dogs or most difficult dogs to train and there were 3 dogs on that list that were also on the Best Dogs list: the Beagle (#1 most difficult), the Chihuahua (#5), and the Pug (#6).
